Mango Street vs. Romeo and Juliet

There are some similarities and differences between the women in Romeo and Juliet & The House on Mango Street. Juliet is kept in with her immediate family and is forced to marry Paris because of his money and power. In The House on Mango Street the women are forced to stay in their immediate families and stay around the house with little interaction with others. The differences between the two groups are Juliet and other women in her life are grown up being told that they should grow up to be good wives and the women in The House on Mango Street grew up being told that they should stay home and cook for their families.
