On Taking A Stand......

To take a stand means to be unmovable on a subject or to protect someone or something. Many groups in modern times take a stand on different things. One such group is AFSCME or American Federation of State, County, and Municipal employees. Afscme is a workers union that takes a stand for better pay for workers. They try to convince businesses to grant better pay to their workers through a process called arbitrations. In my opinion Tom Robinson does not take a stand for himself during his trial, he is quiet most of the time. Instead of being quiet he could have stood up for himself and tried to prove himself innocent. If he hadn't run and tried to climb the fence tom Robinson might have been taken from the prison and hanged by the Ewells.
